Ford Expedition w/ Air Suspension or Coil Springs
The Ford Expedition is a good all around vehicle. It is a half ton truck with the ability to haul eight or nine passengers. They have good safety ratings, especially the newer ones. And they are reliable and affordable. Over the years they have come with a number of different options, such as 2×4, 4×4, different seating, xlt, Eddie Bauer, ect. One of the worst “features” of the Ford Expedition is the air suspension system, which as you probably know is very problematic. Although it is designed to be a luxury feature, it is not worth all the problems.
The Expedition has a ElectroPneumatic air system which is a self leveling and self loading suspension system. This system will keep the truck level even when towing or hauling a load. Which seems like a good feature, and it is nice, until you start getting problems out of your air suspension. There are many things that break and wear out when it comes to these expedition air systems. Or any air system really, the 1990-2009 Lincoln Town Car, 1995-2005 Range Rover, all of these are really nice vehicles with terrible suspensions under them.
Easy Air Suspension Fix
The easiest fix, and possibly the cheapest, would be with a coil spring conversion kit. Because with these kits you will no longer have any need for your air suspension system. Meaning no more airbag leaks, broken compressors, cracked lines, or fried relays. Coil springs have been around for a very long time, and have proved to be a very reliable form of air suspension conversion kit.
